(A week-ish after the festival in the city)
Their room was filled with cherished possessions and the memories tied to them but it was also lacking the one thing that made it home and that emptiness was suffocating, She had tried to at least get a few hours of sleep in that bed but what hours she did get where filled with nightmares. In the end, she had given up on the idea and those slight occasions when her body forced her to sleep (or nap more like it), she crashed on the couch.
Her routine had been relentless since Jesse went missing, a couple of hours here and there of sleep while spending almost every single remaining hour hunting. The pack had tried to make sure that someone was always with or nearby her but her stubborn side was out in full force she knew it was making it difficult for the others but defaulting back into cold indifference but it was keeping her focused.
Keeping herself closed off was also a part of what happened when she woke up at 3 am to a picture sent from Jesse's number, it had been a week of nothing and she couldn't deny the moment of elation but she knew before opening it that she wasn't going to like what she saw. Her eyes flicked over the message and in an instant, hurriedly grabbed her kevlar vest off the coffee table and ran to the gun vault a sense of dread and anxiety filled her but she couldn’t let herself fall into a panic attack, she needed to move. She forced herself out of the freeze and off the couch hurriedly grabbed her kevlar vest off the coffee table and ran to the gun vault that was hidden away in the armoury.
She still had her kabar tucked away in its sheath at her hip but a fleeting thought had her strip it off her belt and left it on top of the vault, she then slid the vest over her head and then grabbed a single thin throwing knife and used it to cut a small line through the seams of the bottom of her vest and slid it inside to hide it from view. It was not the most useful of knives with how thin it was but she was about to walk into a trap that she wanted to intentionally set off and the perfectly balanced hidden weapon could be useful.
Carrying a firearm wasn't something she normally did unless it was her police-issued weapon at work but she didn't need to think about it to know she couldn't grab it so instead she grabbed the first one her eyes set on. Bryn's. Sorry. She grabbed her Kabar and was about to set it down in place of Bryn's gun but she realized she needed to warn Bryn of what the tracker was bringing her to. Looking around the room she grabbed a notepad and a pen and hastily drew a rough sketch. If anyone else saw it, it would just look like a snake in something of a figure eight and a skull sitting on one end but Bryn would understand the moment she saw it when she came to retrieve her now a missing weapon. Her old classmate would know what was waiting and she didn't leave any other hint, she couldn't risk any of the pack finding it first and going without Bryn. If she texted her now it would wake her and she couldn’t have Bryn charging in with her without the right weapon.
If lex was able to fight through the trap then she could reach Jesse and get her out, it was a bit of a small chance but she understood well enough that the outcome would probably lead to chains and pain but that was the point. Lex wouldn't stand much of a chance without a wand and she didn't have time to return to Russia to get it. Bryn would know what she needed to do and all Lex had to do was keep the death-eater and Rayven's attention focused on her (and stay alive) long enough so that the beta could find them, she even had the damn broom to help her now.
She stabbed the sketch through with the blade and then set the knife and pager together down where the gun should have been. Her bike had a tracker on it, they'd figure it out. After locking everything back down she ran back up to the main lobby and finally the door where she slipped her leather jacket on and bolted out the door with keys in hand.
The address in the message was easy enough to find but when she got there, she knew it wasn't going to be the exact place where their holdout was but she was still disappointed. It was an old fishing boat that was dry-docked and not much else. After releasing the button that kept the gun in its holster she flipped the safety off and carefully started searching the buildings around the area, frustration was growing as everything came up empty. An hour after the 'meet up' time had come and she had checked both empty warehouses nearby and had come up empty so the only thing left was to sit back with her bike and wait. She didn't want to leave.
With the bike sitting on its stand she sat on the seat and looked at the message again, it was then that she heard something. A truck. Looking around the empty dock she didn't see anything until it came flying around the corner, she raised her gun instinctively and when she realized it wasn't going to stop she unloaded the clip into the windshield but it wasn't stopping and she had to jump out of the way as it plowed into her bike and crushed it into the brick building nearby and destroyed her escape. It also took the rest of her ammunition, her phone with it and prevented her from grabbing the tracker that she had left still attached to the gas tank. Fuck.
The frustration that had been building quickly shifted to anger and anticipation as vampires flooded out of now multiple vehicles but there was no dread, she wanted the fight. With the empty gun in one hand and her other searching out for her Kabar (and finding nothing.. oh right), she waited for them to make the first move. They circled in silence with their She dropped the first and second assailants to the ground skilfully, but one of the next three managed to hit her in the back of the leg and drop her to one knee, the next blow landed, guns were drawn but they seemed to be waiting until another vehicle pulled up and Rayven stepped out.
"Can't even fucking show up on time."
Lex muttered loud enough to make sure it was heard but there wasn't any time before one of the vampires shot at the wolf, they missed but it triggered chaos. The first and second assailants dropped to the ground skilfully but one of the next three managed to hit her in the back of the leg and drop her to one knee, the next blow landed but her hidden vest took the impact of the kick. Some of the vamps seemed to know how to fight while some didn't, it left this a mixed bag of skill for her to contend with but treated it all just the same. Take them down hard and fast.
