It had taken months of hard work by city officials, and numerous poor turnouts, but, a monthly "festival" throughout the summer, beginning and ending with a harvest festival, finally took root in Renfrew. The nice weather, school being out leaving parents desperate for somewhere to send their children to get them out of the house, and the more agriculture driven communities just outside the cities all seemed to crave for something and the town itself hurt for a breath of life. Small local businesses could use it as a means to get publicity and possibly move product they might otherwise not, travel companies providing games and entertainment spent more time in the area, and overall, the populous seemed to finally relish in the concept. After 3 very dismal tries, that was. But, resolute determination was how Renfrew still existed, and that was no more apparent than in this endeavor. This one was close enough to Wren's birthday, that, Bryn begrudgingly broke down and agreed to socialize on behalf of the little girl. The idea of hosting a party at the manor, when they still had no real answers for how and why what befell them did just...didn't sit right.
Going out into the city didn't feel great either but, once the little girl had had her fill of the sights and sounds, she could always bring her to see Jacen, provided it was before full dark, and seeing as it was always hard to make that happen discreetly, it was worth the effort and any discomfort on her part. Besides, a general bit of positivity would go a long way for the pack in general. Securing the day (and the following) off from work, she found herself carpooling with Kyle as the first two (three) to make their way into town and see what there was available. Continuing the fond ribbing from the drive in as she extricated Wren from her car seat (a task enhanced by a toddler's enthusiastic "help"), Bryn asked Kyle a final time.
You sure you don't want to take her for a while? I hear that seeing a man comfortable handling kids is a big selling point in the dating world- and God knows you can use the help.
Mystery girlfriend did not save him from the cajoling, if anything it only strengthened her resolve. Shifting Wren up to her hip, she gave a cheeky grin to cover her gritted teeth as Kyle shut the door on her questioning in initial response. It had been a while since the incident, and she'd recovered...mostly. Her bones still ached, especially her ribs, and the eyelashes she'd lost from whatever chemical had burned her face had grown back in white, but otherwise she hasn't too visibly scarred or still hurt. It was the knowledge of what happened, and the fact there was still so much they didn't know, that hurt more than the residual aches and pains.
