She'd been out of town for a week helping an old friend with a kelpie problem in a small town three hours drive south of them. While she hated to be away from the shop, it was nice to be on the road again, fall into familiar work. Something she knew. Well, something she used to think she knew, knew like the back of her hand. Now, some things...some things were...well, messy. This job hadn't been though, and upon finishing the job she'd been surprised to find her old acquaintance heading in the same direction she was. Renfrew.
Apparently, he'd made a contact that seemed to be based in the town or the surrounding area and he needed to check in with them. Since they were going the same way, maybe she could point him to a decent place to stay and he could pay her back a beer he owed her. That was easy enough to do, and before she went back to the shop he mentioned touching base on his way through town in the future with whatever news he had to keep her up to date on what was going on in her area if she wanted. Which Lena of course took him up on and this particular night saw her leaving a note on the kitchen counter in the apartment loft above the shop saying, "Out catching up on the news, back late xo" for the boys when they got in from whatever they were tearing apart and rebuilding that day.
She didn't anticipate to be out super late, it depended on what news Tyler brought with him. It was a lot of the same, not a lot of werewolf news other than routine movements of some lone actors she already knew about and had been more or less leading other hunters away from for a while. Uptick in vampire activity in surrounding towns which was marginally of interest but nothing that threw any flags up that she thought Riley's people should worry with. The beer before her was half drank, and was Tyler's preferred poison- the cheapest, tinnyest tasting swill they had, but, she'd drank worse. The better bit of information came after the first beer was finished and the preliminary info exhausted. Apparently, his contact was going to be meeting him and was interested in meeting her as well. Two sets of eyes were better than one as they said.
The more the merrier,
Was all she could think to say, unsure if she wanted to meet this contact but, settling on seeing it as a possible source of new information, why not.
